Chifundo UK is committed to protecting your privacy, and promises to respect your personal information and do all it can to keep it safe. We aim to be clear about how we obtain your details and only process them in ways we believe you would reasonably expect. This includes not selling or sharing personal details with third parties.

How do we collect information about you?

We collect information in the following ways:

When you give it to us directly including:

When you attend a meeting or an event, or have a conversation with us and provide us with information about yourself.  When you become a Woman Making a Difference we will ask you for contact information.

When you give it to us indirectly

For example, your information may be shared with us by independent giving sites such as CAF Donate when make an online donation unless you choose to make your donation anonymously.  You should check the Privacy Rights Policy of any such site when providing your information to understand fully how they will process your data.

When you make a purchase from our online shop

When you buy something from the online shop on our website you must supply personal information so that we can communicate by email the progress of your order and then physically send the required products to you.

When we collect information as you use our website

Like most websites, we use ‘cookies’ to help us make our site, and the way you use it, better. Cookies are small text files that sites transfer to your device (computer, phone or tablet) and make interacting with a website faster and easier.  Chifundo UK may store information about you and your activity in cookies. If you want to delete any cookies that are already on your computer or want to restrict or block new web browser cookies being placed on your device, you can do this through your browser settings: the Help function within your browser will tell you how.

What personal information we might collect from you

If you support Chifundo UK by becoming a Woman Making a Difference we will usually collect:

  • Your name
  • Your contact details, including postal address, email, telephone number, along with your preferences as to which of these we should use to contact you in the future

If you support Chifundo UK by making a donation with Gift Aid, we will collect:

  • Your name
  • Your contact details, including postal address, email, telephone numbers, along with your preferences as to which of these we should use to contact you in the future
  • Your status for claiming Gift Aid

If you support Chifundo UK by buying products from the online shop on our website we will usually collect:

  • Your name
  • Your contact details, including postal address, email, telephone number

How do we use this information?

We will use your personal information to:

  • Keep you up to date with the work of Chifundo UK and sometimes to ask for financial and non-financial support
  • Ensure we know how you prefer to be contacted
  • Process your donation in order to claim Gift Aid
  • Fulfil an order from the online shop for products

We do not sell to or share personal data with third parties under any circumstances. 

Legal bases for processing your data:

Consent

From April 2018, we will process the personal data of any new members of Women Making a Difference based on the consent you have given us.

Legitimate interest for existing supporters

If you have made a donation with Gift Aid in the seven (7) years before April 2018 we will continue to process your personal data based on the legitimate interest of Chifundo UK to raise funds.

If you asked us before April 2018 not to contact you then we will continue to respect your wishes and will not contact you.

Opting out

At any time you can change or stop what you receive from us by using the Contact Form and setting the Category of Enquiry to "Privacy Rights" or by writing to us at:  Treasurer, Chifundo UK, 1 St Christophers Close, Chester, CH2 1EJ.

Protecting your personal information

The security of your information is very important to us. We ensure that there are appropriate controls and procedures in place to protect your personal details stored on computer and on paper.

Keeping your information up to date

We would really appreciate it if you let us know if your contact or personal details change as this gives us consent to use the updated information and continue to communicate with you.

How long we will keep your information for

We will hold your personal information on our systems for as long as is necessary to carry out the activity relevant to your interaction with us.

We will keep a record of any donations with Gift Aid you have made for at least seven years.

If you ask us to cease all communications with you, we will still keep a record of your contact details and these communication preferences to enable us to comply with your request.

If you ask us to delete you from our records, we will delete your record immediately.

Right of access

You have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you. If there are any discrepancies in the details we provide, please let us know and we will correct them.  If you want to access your information, send a request and proof of your identity (photocopied documents are acceptable) by post to us at:  Treasurer, Chifundo UK, 1 St Christophers Close, Chester, CH2 1EJ. We do not accept requests by email so we can ensure that we only provide personal information to the right person.

Changes to this Privacy Rights Notice

We may change this Privacy Notice from time to time. If we make any significant changes in the way we treat your personal information, we will make this clear on the Chifundo UK website and/or by contacting you directly.
